A seminar by Shri. Swami Adhyatmanand Ji Maharaj from Sivananda Aashram Ahmadabad was organized at Bhartiya Vidya Mandir Sr. Sec. School, Kitchlu Nagar, Ludhiana to enlighten the teaching faculty regarding their role in teaching. The seminar started with the lighting of ceremonial lamp by Swami Ji in the presence of the Members of Trust. Swami Ji made the audience aware of the proud Indian culture and heritage which is ancient and is having solid roots. Swami Ji said India stands for Purity, Pride and Sacrifice and teachers have a big role to play in this country of values and ethics. He also urged teachers to watch their conduct as the students are a reflection and a mirror of their own image. He also emphasized the need to be vegetarian as India has variety to offer in matters of food. He urged on the need to have vegetarian food with peaceful mind. He exhorted the need to shun junk foods and non-veg. food items. He also conveyed that the teaching, teacher and student (Shiksha, Shikshak, Shiksharthi) are one and the same thing. Love and devotion for one’s country is of utmost importance according to Swami Ji and these values should be ingrained among students. Teachers are the role models who can do this with ease. They should come prepared with topics they intend to teach in their classes and should not be hypocrite. Students are the future of our country and should be nurtured carefully. He also planted a plant in the school premises and named it ‘Utkarsh’.
