Marking a departure from the legacy of bookish learning and to commemorate the 128th birth anniversary of Dr. Srinivasa Aiyangar Ramanujan, Bhartiya Vidya Mandir Kitchlu Nagar, Ludhiana celebrated ‘Maths Week’ from 16th December 2015 to 22nd December 2015. Activities for filling the gap between Maths to be learnt and Maths to be practically implemented were organized like Mathematics Relay Race, Solving Mathematical Puzzles such as solving Rubik’s cube and creating magic squares, Interactive Session on Mathematics, Quiz Competition, Mathematical games such as Sudoku and Innovative Projects on Mathematics-Tangram Activity. All these activities encouraged the students to reflect their own mathematical knowledge with understanding of all resources and sites of learning.
The week concluded with an exhibition of all projects and activities taken up during the week giving higher priorities and space to practical Maths comprising hands on experience with revised and refined mathematical talent.
Such kind of activities fight with the problem of curriculum burden by reconstructing and reorienting knowledge with greater consideration of practical usage – said Principal Mrs. Neelam Mittar.
