Fostering a nurturing learning environment where every child feels heard, valued and emotionally secure, Bhartiya Vidya Mandir Senior Secondary School, Kitchlu Nagar, Ludhiana, emphasised the significance of creating emotionally safe classrooms that promote holistic development and positive learning experiences.
The session was facilitated by Dr Navpreet Bhathal, School Psychologist, BVM Group of Schools, who highlighted the importance of teachers connecting with children at their eye level, extending warm and empathetic greetings, and remaining attuned to their emotional needs. Emotional corners, smiley emotion boards, calming spaces and vibrant, child-friendly classroom settings were highlighted as meaningful practices to help young learners recognise, express and regulate their emotions.
Such thoughtfully designed spaces empower children to communicate their feelings without hesitation, develop emotional resilience and build stronger relationships with teachers and peers. The initiative reflects the school’s commitment to making emotional well-being an integral part of meaningful education.
Principal Mrs. Ranju Mangal lauded the emphasis on emotionally responsive classrooms and underscored that a child who feels safe, understood and respected is better prepared to learn, explore and flourish
